All About Me

Theme: All About Me (I Am a Star!)

Objective: Self worth. Learn that each person is unique and wonderful.

Choosing Time: Do measurements & “All About Me”, cars, dolls, & dinosaurs

Lesson: Use mirror – put it in a box. Tell children you have a special star to show them. Pass the box around and invite each child to peek in the box. Ask them to keep what they see a secret. Talk about how each person is unique – name a positive quality for each child. Show and Tell the special items they've brought to school.

Snack Super Helper: Grayce brought us a yummy snack of pretzels & fruit snacks. Thank you!

Music: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Art/Craft:-“I am a Star” necklaces. Talk about how stars are made up of triangles – practice

drawing stars

-Draw picture of self with caption “I am somebody special – I am a star!”

Books: Mixed Up Chameleon by Eric Carle

Tell the story with cut-out Chameleon. Let the children help place body parts on lizard. Emphasize how we are great the way we are.

Parts by Tedd Arnold

Talk about our body parts and uses for each one (why do they make us special?)

Science: Measure Height & Weight. Chart it. Tell the kids we will check at the end of the school year to see if we've grown.

Movement: Move like the animals in “Mixed-up Chameleon.” Do the “Hokey-Pokey”. Play Moon, moon, star (duck, duck, goose)
